Agenda speech:
About a year ago, the conflict in the Middle East has
reached another breaking point – operation ‘cast lead’, in which IDF
attacked the PNA. Many innocent Palestinian civilians were killed, and human
rights were violated. We must help the countries of the
The problem in
We must do what we can right now to prevent another crisis, and solve the urgent issues
Agenda Speech 2
Ladies and Gentlemen, the crisis of child soldier is one in
which the entire world agrees is wrong and is considered one of the worst kinds
of war crimes and human rights violation.
This can be
proven by the fact there is a vast amount of institutions such as the Optional
Protocol to the Convention on the Rights of the Child (on the Involvement of
Children in Armed Conflict), The Coalition to stop the use of Child Soldiers,
AMNESTY and The Human Rights Watch which deal with the issue.
Even though much effort has been put into solving this issue,
the progress made is still not enough and the world is still unable to overcome
the obstacles in solving this issue which can be divided into three types:
1. The inability of
countries to enforce the rules which regard to the terminating of Child
Soldiers around the world.
2. Giving the proper
treatment to those who were once soldiers and now suffer from post war traumas.
3. We are still arguing
on the exact age a soldier must be over in order to be recruited legally to the
army.
Ladies and
Gentlemen, putting the issue of child soldiers anywhere else than first place
on our agenda, is just running away from our difficulties.
A famous man once said that
"There can be hope only for a society which acts as one big family, not at
many separate ones..”
Agenda Speech 3
What do drug-dealers and
terrorist have in common? Not a lot, right?
Well, that's what the
delegate thought.
Imagine you walk out of
your house one day and find out that your neighbor is a drug-dealer.
Now imagine how you react
when you find out that the money he earns goes to terrorism.
Ladies and Gentleman, the
amount of people finding out their close relatives are related to drugs and
terrorism is rising as we speak. More and more terrorist groups are rising,
taking over the government and sucking out all the resources one country has.
The role of the Security
Council is not to solve small problems- It is to solve big and urgent problems
and that's one of the many reasons why the issue of reducing
drugs trafficking in order to combat international conflict and terrorism should be discussed first.
A famous Austrian once said: "Drugs are the fuel in
the car of misery in this world."
Let's act now to change the
situation. Let's act now to stop the trade of drugs and rising of terrorist
groups, let's act now for a better future!

Agenda Speech 5
Ladies and Gentlemen,
When
you were young and you were asked what you wanted to do when you grow up, some
of you said teachers, doctors, lawyers and even firefighters.
But none of you, ladies and gentlemen, imagined
that this dream would be cut off at age 12, when you become a child soldier
unwillingly.
The Arab republic of Egypt asks the members of the
Human Rights Committee: Aren't 250,000 child soldiers enough for our world?
Seeing as to how every continent is affected by this phenomenon, shouldn't we
put a stop to this?
Ladies and Gentlemen the role of the Human Rights Committee is not to
solve minor problems- Its to solve big and urgent
problems and that's one of the many reasons why the issue of Child Soldiers is
so important and should be put first on our agenda. By putting this issue
first, we will be able to overcome the difficulties we have failed to overcome.
As the famous quote says "There can be hope
only for a society which acts as one big family, not at many separate ones.. We
are the ones we've been waiting for, we are the change that we seek"
Let's begin saving those in need, let's put all our effort into tackling
this problem and most important, let's act now for a better future!
